Synergia supported Philip Morris Cyprus to strengthen its internal understanding of sustainability and ESG issues and to convert commitments into action, through a targeted employee training and activation programme focusing on waste management, recycling and circular economy. The initiative was implemented through the ESG Pulse training programme titled “Waste Management & Recycling: Myths & Truths”, combining evidence-based knowledge, a focus on prevention, and practical examples of implementation. The action concluded with a voluntary clean-up at the New Port of Limassol, where company employees removed 2.7 tons of waste, of which 285 kg was plastic, mainly disposable, and the rest were bulky objects, furniture, tires, etc. At the same time, with the new awareness that cigarette butts are the most widespread and persistent form of plastic pollution, having an environmental impact on both beaches and marine ecosystems, the volunteers focused on butt collection and removal, managing to collect more than 750 butts. These actions boosted the connection between knowledge about ESG issues, everyday behavior and real environmental impact.
